How to make: Hard Trance or a Hard Dance Track?

There are several ways you could do a hard house or hard trance track. These tracks have been on for ages and you might have listened to many of these tracks for a long time since nearly the beginning of 1996.

What is the specialty of these cool tracks that have been made? Not only the drumset but also the vibrant cool ensembles and pads in the track have made them what they are. A dreamy way of launching sounds in vibrant ways together. And it is settled nevertheless in a specific system. And sounds very delightful in a dreamy way.

So let us tell little about what kind of drumset you need. Not only are these drumsets played by firstly drumhitx4 but also when you are at your fourth sequence you will have to change a little extra about your hit, you add second another hit at the fourth play.

As you might see on the left. There are 4 different patterns that often change in the last play of a drum hit. By the example, we find the use of each of them in the drumkit and often when four normal hits have been played for 3x times in between the sequence ending in a special type of drum hit.

Offbeat bass. What is offbeat? It’s often said that when the hits are placed not specifically 1 1 1 1 as drums but they are placed at 2 2 2 2 hits. The bass plays when the drum hit isn’t available for a pressure of bass frequencies. That means that whenever there is room for bass we play the bass offbeat.

Just remember to not have too high decay of your drums to mix them together with the bass. This means the longer the kick is played the easier it is for the kick to mash up with bass.

What else is important? Maybe some progression of the pads, or long-played sounds that sound as if there is a gate, or perhaps some sort of trance vibe of long-played notes. These notes blend well together with the schematic. So perhaps you would want to have sounds that have a long attack. This means it takes a longer time for the sound to occur when you are producing the sound. Often we use ensembles to do such progress.

As you blend together both rhythms it will sound pleasant and interesting. But that’s not all, you need plenty of sounds, plenty of trance feel. Vibrant notes of melody or at least some work on a melodic part. You might see in the picture below that it has Ghost Channels activated. These can be set on either in the menu of helpers for the piano roll. But also by pushing the button alt+v.

When we talk about melodies. They are created often by the rhythm of the above illustration of a pad or ensemble system. These melodies need their own typo sound, most often the easiest way to get preset is to know how to tweak Sytrus presets. By some experience, you might be ahead of many creating at least 100 presets over a course of 3 months. You will be then ahead of many who most often are lazy. Such a way to use presets is the daily best routine for a new sound or specific unique vibe. The more time you use on these things the more you will have. And you can’t use up creativity. The more you make, the more you’ll have.

Loops! These things are called loops and drumkits and all that. When making a track you might also want to put into some hi-hats or open hi-hats. These things often are specifically important in most tracks.

The use of hi-hats is an important part of a track and will sound if used in the right type sound good.

The use of open high-hat you will see with hits on the 3 3 3 3. And hi-hats (1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2)

Mastering Tip: But be around putting both sounds to the mixer unit is important. Since most hits need extra work, so we often create Parametric EQ 2 for the sounds. You might want to heavily equalize down the most sounding frequencies to create a more pleasant sound of specific hi-hats to even crashes. Often we just remove the sound that is most at pressure. You might see below the example of high leveled sounds and often equalizing sounds, these levels when turned down. And often used compression gain these sounds will sound more pleasant and quite viby.

When it comes to crash or cymbal hits at each of the parts. We often should put a crash cymbal at the ends of each of the plays. Where you have sounds that change more you end up putting a crash to the new beginning. The crash is a cymbal that is known as just a crash cymbal.

Producer tip: You can shorten the crash, you can reduce it to nearly 100ms hit. Or you can have it long. With reverb or with delay, or anything you would like to use.

Producer tip: You might want to get loops. You should look for loops that have many hi-hats or other cymbals in them to use as loops in a track. You might want to use sometimes something called buildup sounds and these samples often as in the picture above Sweep Fx are for buildups to the track.

Pro tip: There are ways to use something called a ride. Ride cymbals are often great to add in the middle of a track when things are important. When you want to play ride at 1 1 1 1 as drums to a specific part that is interesting important or specific cool to use in with.

Production tip: You might want to use buildups with snares or kicks or perhaps you might want to produce your track with many cool features as perhaps loops, but you need to cut them extend them, or even make them longer. You might want to learn time stretching or stretching loops as perhaps in this tutorial:

How to fit vocals to beat if its tempo problem? With time stretching?

Producer tip: When making a track sometimes it’s better to listen to global music. It might be hard for many but having some sort of collection of MP3s of many tracks eases your production skills. If perhaps you find a cool track. Don’t budge put that mp3 into FL Studio and try to replicate the whole setup or as perhaps the skeleton of the track. You might get further forward if you at least try.
